Stormstown & State College, PA
Troop 375 has been a cornerstone of youth development in the Stormstown and State College area since its founding in 1995. Operating within the Nittany Mountain District of the Juniata Valley Council, the troop has built a legacy of leadership, outdoor adventure, and enduring community partnerships.
The troop’s longevity is a result of the incredible support from local institutions. For much of its history, Troop 375 was chartered by Grays United Methodist Church. While the United Methodist Church eventually moved away from the chartering model, the bond between the troop and the church remains as strong as ever.
Today, the troop operates under a formal Use Agreement with Grays UMC, and the troop is profoundly grateful for their continued hospitality. This ongoing support allows the troop to maintain its deep roots in the Stormstown community while utilizing the familiar facilities that have hosted decades of Scouting memories.
In this new chapter, the troop is proud to be chartered by Trinity Lutheran Church on North Oak Lane in State College. This transition has allowed the troop to grow its reach across the region, benefiting from the enthusiastic support and guidance of the Trinity Lutheran congregation.
The Eagle Tradition: Since the mid-90s, Troop 375 has mentored dozens of Scouts toward the rank of Eagle Scout. These individuals have left a lasting mark on Central Pennsylvania through service projects benefiting Halfmoon Township, local parks, and various community organizations.
Youth-Led Leadership: A hallmark of the troop is its commitment to the "Youth-Led" philosophy. Under the mentorship of adult volunteers, the Scouts plan their own outings and run their own meetings, fostering the independence and responsibility central to the Scouting mission.
The Spirit of Adventure: From its inception, the troop has maintained a vigorous outdoor schedule. Highlights of its history include high-adventure treks, winter backpacking, and regular participation in Order of the Arrow events and district camporees.
Troop 375 remains a visible and active force for good in the community. Whether assisting with the logistics of the AAUW Book Sale or performing conservation work in local forests, the troop’s history is defined by the Scout slogan: "Do a Good Turn Daily."
